The Legend of the Campeón de Máscaras
According to legend, masked warriors representing the Mexica, Maya and Zapotec peoples once gathered beneath the smoke of Popocatépetl. There, they created a sacred symbol representing courage, sacrifice and the highest honor a warrior could achieve.
The symbol was said to be passed down through generations, carrying with it the belief that the mask represented something greater than the person beneath it. That ancient tradition now lives on through the Campeón de Máscaras and the ceremonial battle known as La Ofrenda.
Campeón de Máscaras, or the Champion of Masks, represents the core foundation of GHE: a hybrid of American Pro Wrestling and Mexican Lucha Libre. Lucha Libre has a storied history of masked warriors. To challenge for the Campeón de Máscaras, a competitor must wear a mask throughout the entire contest.

5. Mask vs. Mask Matches
Mask vs. Mask matches remain recognized under professional wrestling tradition.
A wrestler who previously lost a Mask vs. Mask match may still compete for the championship by wearing a mask and following all division rules.
Competing in the division does not erase or change the result of any previous Mask vs. Mask match.
6. Championship Contenders
Challengers may be selected through matches, tournaments, rankings, battle royals, qualifiers, or other officially sanctioned methods.
Final contender decisions are made by the governing promotion or authorized championship officials.
7. Vacant Championship
If the championship becomes vacant, a new champion may be crowned through any officially sanctioned match, tournament, battle royal, or other competitive format chosen by championship officials.
